What is a custom printable and should you buy it?

Last time, we talked about printable artwork and why they work for so many people. But what about custom printables? What is a custom printable and should you buy it?

There are many types of custom printables available. First, let’s discuss templates that you can purchase on platforms like Etsy and Zazzle, among others. Customization options may be limited, but they are suitable for various invitations, including wedding and birthday invitations, personalized greeting cards, customized stationery, thank you cards, and more. After making a purchase, the buyer fills in the necessary information and can then print the item.

Examples of Custom Templates:

These two designs are from my new shop at Zazzle. If you aren’t familiar with Zazzle, Zazzle is an online marketplace that allows users to design and sell custom products and customers to create their own products with independent manufacturers.

Custom printables (not templates) are a completely different product. With custom printables, the customer provides the information, and the designer creates the design. Because the designer is directly involved, the cost is higher than that of a custom template, where you simply change out the information. At Susan Newberry Designs, we have been creating custom printables for years, and we truly enjoy the process. You might wonder why you would choose a custom printable over a custom template. The answer is simple: custom printables offer many more options, including variations in color, font, and style.

Here are some of our Custom Printables:

I hope this clarifies some details about custom designs. Soon I hope to show my Zazzle store. Right now it is a work in progress!

Susan Newberry

Hi, I’m Susan! I’ve spent the last 10 years building my online company. I’ve always loved everything to do with design. In fact, after raising my kids, I decided to go to school and get my degree in Interior Design. While running my own interior design company, I started teaching and found that teaching was what I really loved. Combine that with Interior Design and well, you could say I was on cloud nine. I always loved the technical side of design which led me to graphic design and after studying graphic design, I was encouraged to open an Etsy shop to sell some of my creations. With my attention to detail and being somewhat of a perfectionist, graphic design made perfect sense. In December of 2018, I decided to retire from teaching and devote myself full time to my business and I haven’t looked back since! I love designing art for the home and would love to create something special for you.

It’s true what they say, “Love what you do, and you will never work a day in your life.”
