Our Big Kitchen Reveal

We're finished!!!  I thought it was time to show you our finished kitchen.  We just love it!

Do you remember what it looked like before - right out of the 90s?

Here is the plan in case you forgot...

As you can see, we stuck to our plan fairly well.  One change included the color of the granite.  We choose black pearl from Premier Surfaces where we were able to pick out our actual slab.

The bar stools were a steal from Ballard Designs Outlet.

The white subway tile from Floor and Décor was a real bargain at .21 tile and we used delorean gray grout from The Home Depot.

What do you think of our chalkboard wall?  I have to give all the credit for that to my son-in-law Alex.  I designed it but he executed it.  Unfortunately I don't have the patience it takes and I can tell you it takes some patience!  The grid lines were purchased for just $10 from Leen the Graphics Queen and worth every penny.

Finding a good chalk pen proved a challenge until I found this one from Bistro at Amazon.

Here are some before and after pictures for you to enjoy...

One thing we didn't plan on was how much darker the kitchen would be with the black granite and the black chalkboard wall.  Instead of undercabinet lighting we decided to go with recessed lighting with LED dimmable lights from The Home Depot.
Start to finish took less than 4 weeks and we couldn't be happier.  Our kitchen reno project has led to many other projects in the house which I will be sharing with you over the coming weeks.  We now have a first floor that is ready for 2015!

Susan Newberry

Hi, I’m Susan! I’ve spent the last 10 years building my online company. I’ve always loved everything to do with design. In fact, after raising my kids, I decided to go to school and get my degree in Interior Design. While running my own interior design company, I started teaching and found that teaching was what I really loved. Combine that with Interior Design and well, you could say I was on cloud nine. I always loved the technical side of design which led me to graphic design and after studying graphic design, I was encouraged to open an Etsy shop to sell some of my creations. With my attention to detail and being somewhat of a perfectionist, graphic design made perfect sense. In December of 2018, I decided to retire from teaching and devote myself full time to my business and I haven’t looked back since! I love designing art for the home and would love to create something special for you.

It’s true what they say, “Love what you do, and you will never work a day in your life.”
