There's No Place Like Home

"There's no place like home." Home - how would you describe it? Is it a haven, a place of refuge? A place you long to be after a long day?  A place for family and friends? Well, Dorothy certainly felt this way. You might remember this quote from "The Wizard of Oz" by Frank Baum.  It is as true today as it was in 1900 when Frank Baum wrote the "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." But did you know that the line "there's no place like home," dates even before the Wizard of Oz?  It's the last line of a song written in 1822 called "Home! Sweet Home!" The words were penned by John Howard Payne and the music was written by Sir Henry Bishop.

Do you  feel that way about your home?  I'm reading a great book right now by Melissa Michaels of the Inspired Room entitled "Love the Home You Have." Melissa shows you how to love your house, even if its not the grandest house on the block.  She reminds us that our homes don't have to be showrooms but that our homes should be livable and comfortable.

There are so many things that we all can do to make our homes more functional and beautiful at the same time.  One thing you can do is to clear the clutter.  I always feel better in a space that is uncluttered. What about you? Spending just a few minutes a day can help you achieve that.

Be sure to come back often for more decorating tips.

Thanks for stopping by...

Until next time,

Hi, I’m Susan! I’ve spent the last 10 years building my online company. I’ve always loved everything to do with design. In fact, after raising my kids, I decided to go to school and get my degree in Interior Design. While running my own interior design company, I started teaching and found that teaching was what I really loved. Combine that with Interior Design and well, you could say I was on cloud nine. I always loved the technical side of design which led me to graphic design and after studying graphic design, I was encouraged to open an Etsy shop to sell some of my creations. With my attention to detail and being somewhat of a perfectionist, graphic design made perfect sense. In December of 2018, I decided to retire from teaching and devote myself full time to my business and I haven’t looked back since! I love designing art for the home and would love to create something special for you.

It’s true what they say, “Love what you do, and you will never work a day in your life.”
