DIY Map Art - Decoupage a Paper Mache Letter

One of my favorite DIY projects is decoupage.  This time I decoupaged a paper mache letter A for my grandson, Anthony's room.  I bought the 23 1/2" letter A at Joann on sale for $6.00.  I printed off old maps from the internet and The Graphics Fairy and tore them into small uneven pieces.  Using watered down Elmer's glue and a brush, I applied the map pieces.  After everything dried, I brushed on some Satin Varnish to seal it.

For more detailed instruction on how to decoupage, check out this tutorial from a previous blog. The only thing I did different was that I printed my maps off myself on my Epson Stylus Photo R2000, instead of a laser printer and the color didn't run!
So what do you think?  We love it.  It's a great addition to his Map Themed Room.  Now my granddaughter Adrianna wants to do a Frozen decoupaged letter A for her room.  I'll share if we decide to do it!
Until next time...
