Decorating with Art

Even if you are not a decorator you can decorate your home with art. Art can bring life to your space. Art is a way of expressing your personality in your home. Art inspires. Art imparts joy. Anything can be art.

Basic Rules for Hanging Art

There are a few basic rules that should be followed when hanging art. The first is how high to hang. Most people hang their art too high. Hang your artwork so the center is between 56 and 60 inches off the floor.

When hanging art about furniture the rule of thumb is 6 - 8 inches above the furniture. You want to think of the art and the furniture as being connected.

When grouping artwork, keep them 2 - 6 inches apart based on the size of the art and the number of pieces in the grouping.

Anything Can Be Art

“Every child is an artist.” ~Pablo Picasso

What better way to decorate a child’s room than with their art! Buy inexpensive frames that enable you to change out the artwork as your child grows.

No headboard? No problem! Create a focal point with a large piece of art over the bed!

Lean art on shelves. Family photos work great here! This works great when artwork is small. You can even layer your pictures.

Anything can be art. Here are some DIY ideas I found while scrolling on pinterest.
